Six Reasons to get Walking…

Going for a walk can benefit your wellbeing in more ways than simply boosting your fitness.

Walking really is just a great way to improve and maintain your overall health. Just 30 minutes every day can also increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance. It can reduce your risk of developing conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and some cancers. Unlike some other forms of exercise, walking is free and doesn’t require any special equipment or training. Walking is not restricted by age – whether you are 5 or 55, walking is important for all age groups! You can walk listening to music, walk with the dog, pushing the pram, by yourself, with friends or family – you can turn exercising into an enjoyable social occasion, plus you’re not restricted by a timetable.

Personally, I love to walk. I think it does you the absolute world of wonders.

Before I fell pregnant, I would walk at least an hour a day. My Golden Retriever, Cooper, keeps me motivated and in my eyes – is the best exercise partner. Now that I am pregnant, I don’t have the same stamina, but I do make sure to go for at least a 30 minute walk every day because no matter how I feel before hand – tired, stressed, rundown, lazy, happy, sad, in good spirits, in a bad mood, whatever it is- I always feel so much better afterwards and it makes it so worthwhile.
