Protein (both soy and whey)
Our designer cookies provide just the right amount of protein for a snack that will sustain you during your active, busy life. Protein is an important nutrient needed by the body on a daily basis.
We've chosen a blend of both soy protein and whey protein for our cookies.
Soy protein from food sources is approved by the FDA for heart health and some studies show that 25 grams per day may reduce cholesterol levels. In addition, the protein in these bars comes from soy crisp and soy beans made from puffed milled rice and soy protein. The soy crisps add a slightly crunchy texture and protein to the cookies.
A soybean is a legume with high protein content. They contribute texture and flavour while adding complete protein with all essential amino acids to Slim Secrets.
Contains Soy Protein which is:
- High in fibre
- High in protein
- Low in saturated fat
- Cholesterol-free
- Lactose-free
- A good source of omega-3 fatty acids
- High in phytoestrogens.
The suggested health benefits of whole soy foods include:
- Lowered blood pressure
- Soybeans are thought to be of some health benefit to menopausal women. Soybeans contain hormone-like substances called phytoestrogens ('phyto' means plant). More research is needed, but soybeans seem to offer promise in helping some women to manage menopausal hot flushes.
- Improvements to blood vessels, such as greater elasticity of artery walls
- Reduced risk of osteoporosis
- Protection against various cancers, including those of the breast, colon, prostate and skin
- Management of endometriosis
- Soybeans have been shown to lower blood cholesterol levels as well as lipoproteins, both known risk factors for heart disease
Whey protein
Whey protein is a very high quality complete protein with rich amounts of all the essential amino acids which are the "building blocks" for healthy bodies. Protein has a number of different roles including:
- Repair body cells
- Build and repair muscles and bones
- Provide a source of energy
- Control many of the important processes in the body related to metabolism
Fibre
Many women have a difficult time finding good sources of fibre and actually including sufficient amounts of fibre in their diets - Slim Secrets is a great solution. Fibre is defined as a carbohydrate that cannot be completely digested and is classified into soluble and insoluble; both are important to a healthy diet. Soluble fibre is found in fruits, nuts, vegetables, oats and more and has been proven to help reduce cholesterol while slowing digestion in the stomach keeping blood sugar levels consistent. Insoluble fibre helps keep the digestive system moving and can be found in whole wheat, wheat bran and many vegetables.
Both forms of fibre can be found in Slim Secrets in our rolled oats, chia seeds, nuts, dried fruits, proteins and more!
Chia Seeds
We have also designed our cookies to include the revolutionary super food CHIA SEEDS. Chia Seeds are a great source of Omega-3 & Omega-6 essential fatty acids!
These seeds are perfect for the weight conscious.
Chia Seeds are also very beneficial to the heart and extremely high in fibre, calcium, high quality protein, slowly processed carbohydrates and loaded with vitamins & minerals and antioxidants!
Rolled Oats
Oats are a good source of both soluble and insoluble fibre. Oats supply many nutrients including vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, iron, manganese and magnesium. Oats are also a good source of protein.
