Small Secrets to your healthy weight
Let me fill you in on a little secret...
Actually a few little secrets
Please indulge me with a couple of exciting PR Slim Secrets stories. Firstly
we were contacted by NBC studios in the US as they have
just filmed the opening of the major Football Season with Faith
Hill performing and with
many of their top footballers present. We were asked to supply those people
involved in the show opening with Slim Secrets bars to snack on. Apparently
they were a big hit and in fact the director's wife sent me this
email
“Sharon, the Bars are amazing, my husband is obsessed with
them, he has been eating one for almost every meal, and I love them too,
Thank you!!”
In the same week we also received a call from a PR company in Hollywood
asking for some bar samples to send as part of a package for Lindsay
Lohan's
21st birthday which we did and they were a big hit too.
Okay so now back to these slim secrets!
Over the past few months many of you have sent me some tips/secrets that
have worked for you in order to reach or maintain a healthy weight, which
have been appreciated greatly. You will notice from many of my articles
and newsletters that I am a big fan of small tips rather than long winded
blurbs. The reason for this is that we all have different needs and differing
weak spots so there is no such thing as a program that suits all. However
giving you bite sized tips means that you can choose which ones may be
relevant to you rather than doing everything at once which is the case
for many organised weight loss plans.
Here are some of my favorite secrets for you all to share:
- Drink more
water! Add a twist of lemon or lime to a tall glass of ice water
and drink to your health!
- Find an exercise buddy at work and schedule time together to
work out.
- Pack your own lunch and you'll have greater control over what
you're eating.
- Lighten up that salad. Try dipping your fork into a side of dressing
before stabbing those greens.
- Studies show that laughter is therapeutic, so go ahead and try
it!
- Try to exercise! Join a local gym or fitness center. Many facilities
now offer single gender exercise rooms.
- Are you a morning person or an evening person? The best time of
day to exercise is the time that best fits your schedule!
- Ordering an appetizer with that meal? Try soup made with broth instead
of higher calorie menu items.
- Consider raking leaves and gardening as an opportunity. A finished
job is very rewarding and a good way to burn some calories!
- Combine exercise with your top priorities. Catch the morning news
while on the treadmill or go for a walk with a friend.
- Take your kids to the park and join in the fun. Leave that park
bench empty!
- Challenge your kids to a game of basketball, volleyball or even
duck, duck, goose!
- Start a walking club in the neighborhood. It's a great way to combine
exercise and a chat with friends.
- Slow down when you eat. Taking the time to enjoy the food will
make you aware of when you are full.
- Get ready to dance. It's a great way to get in some exercise and
have fun with your kids.
- Watching TV? Try some stretching or stepping as you catch your
favorite show.
- Remember to eat breakfast - it's the most important
meal of the day and the one that gets your body going.
- Teach your kids to play baseball, basketball or your favorite sport.
It's great for them and you'll get some exercise too!
- Participate in a charity walk/run. It's a great way to get some
exercise while you help others.
- Exercise for healthy bones. Walking (or other weight-bearing exercise)
is a great activity that can help maintain bone density!
- Enjoy the great outdoors. No matter the time of year, outside activities
can raise your spirits and keep you motivated.
- Get the whole family moving to foster physical activity and build
family memories.
- Think of a snack as a small meal. It can give you an energy boost
and help bridge the gap between regular meals as long as it is not
laden in calories, fat or sugar.
- Exercise during rush hour! When you're finished, your commute will
be easier and quicker.
- Salad plates aren't just for salad anymore - serve
up dinner on a smaller plate to keep sensible portions in perspective.
- Kids sporting events are a great opportunity to exercise. Don't
sit in the bleachers, walk the perimeter of the field as you cheer on
those
pint size athletes!
- Exercise can be fun, think of it as recess for adults.
- Eating out? Choose menu items listed as baked, broiled, grilled,
poached or roasted.
- Be sure to get your rest. Choose a comfortable pillow and you're
on your way.
- It's okay to have small indulgences. Just be sure to use portion
control.
- Be a role model. Your children are more likely to embrace healthy
eating and exercise if they watch you lead the way!
- Jazz up mundane household chores with some music, get your feet
moving, and have fun!
- Get moving after a meal. Walk around the block after dinner or
visit a friend down the street.
- Eating out? Try to avoid that basket of bread on the table and
save your appetite (and calories) for the meal.
- As you begin to feel and look fitter and healthier, you may gain
confidence.
Be safe and have fun. Warm wishes

Fill Up on Fibre
Cutting calories doesn't have mean going hungry. One easy way is to fill
up on fibre. According to a study conducted by the United States Department
of Agriculture's Human Nutrition Research Center, women who doubled their
fibre intake from 12 to 24 grams per day cut their calorie intake by 90 calories
per day. That's almost 10 pounds a year!
Eating a high fibre diet can also
add energy to your day. Tanya Zuckerbrot, M.S., R.D., author of "The
F-Factor Diet", writes, 'By eating a combination of fibre and protein
at every meal, you are providing your body with long-term energy. If you
eat a meal with simple carbohydrates (carbs without fibre), you will find
yourself
crashing soon after and heading to the vending machine for a quick pick
me up. Try eating food enriched in fibre, like a cup of raspberries, to
avoid
the trip to the vending machine.
Slim Secrets bars are also a great source of both fibre and protein for
that between meal snack. Read more secrets from Sharon's Blog.
